Chubb practices for first time since 2023

Nick Chubb suited up for practice with the Cleveland Browns for the first time since September 2023. “Nick’s working through injuries and rehabbing, you’re always excited when they’re back in pads,” coach Kevin Stefanski said. “Nick has been here every day so not far from what we’re doing, not far from what we’re thinking about. He’s in every meeting. He’s here very early. This is just the next natural progression for him.”

Clippers extend Mann

Los Angeles Clippers guard Terance Mann signed a contract extension, the team announced Wednesday. Financial terms were not disclosed by the Clippers, however multiple media outlets reported it was a three-year, $47 million extension.

Griner joins 3-on-3

Unrivaled Basketball, a new 3-on-3 league for WNBA players in their offseason, announced Wednesday that All-Star center Brittney Griner is the 24th player in the fold. The 30-player league is starting in January, with all games played in Miami over a 10-week span on a 60-foot court. The women will be divided into six teams of five players.

Pochettino plays it safe

Mauricio Pochettino played it safe with his first U.S. men’s national team squad on Wednesday as he retained a slew of familiar names for a pair of October friendlies but made clear that the door is open to anyone. Pochettino, who took charge of the national team last month, named a 25-man roster that includes 19 players who were at the 2024 Copa America where the U.S. suffered a humiliating early exit on home soil that led to the sacking of Gregg Berhalter.

Bucs without Winfield Jr., 4 others

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers ruled out five players for their NFC South game on Thursday night against the host Atlanta Falcons. All-Pro safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (foot) as well as right tackle Luke Goedeke (concussion), defensive tackle Calijah Kancey (calf) and wide receivers Jalen McMillan (hamstring) and Trey Palmer (concussion) will not play in the short week for the Bucs (3-1) against the Falcons (2-2), the team confirmed Wednesday.
